At this volatile moment of grief and rage I believe that we need to renew our faith that compassion--uniting in suffering--will give us hope and courage. Purpose can emerge from pain. This is part of a series of talks by the Human Potential Lab in Japan. My title--Transforming through Three Vital Connections--reflects how the "born again" experience of surviving a fire served as a catalyst for a life dedicated to knowing my purpose and living it the best I can. I learned to see transformation not merely as being struck by a lightning bolt but as becoming by being, in a mundane sense of practice in daily living.
