Seeing my book at the San Francisco airport Compass bookstore side by side with a New York Times Bestseller (3 million copies sold!), I remember how I tell young people to not compare themselves with others. Comparison is the source of great misery, as there is always someone more popular or better at school or sports or more attractive or popular. I tell them to ask what needs to be done in the world, that they have the ability to do, and will only be done if they do it. Then they can embrace their wonderful uniqueness, discover their purpose, and live their mission. They just need to do their best with what they've got and make their own special contribution.
Every day I tell myself to do the same.
