From Harvard to Zen Temples: A Lesson in Heartfulness. A psychologist's journey across cultures

I was interviewed by Dr. Marianna Pogosyan for her blog "Between Cultures" at Psychology Today.

The photo is with Roshi Nanrei Yokota of Enkakuji in Kamakura with whom I had a wonderful encounter at Zen 2.0 Conference in 2017. Following it, I visited him at his temple and participated in an overnight Zazen-kai where I experienced a moment of Zen training. After that, monks in training were invited to sit with me and talk about my practice of mindfulness. This was so well received, that we then were invited to deliver mindful compassion training for all the monks at the temple. It was an amazing experiment in mutual learning between religion and social science.
