In searching for “new” ways of knowledge presentation I began to practice the ancient tradition of oral storytelling. The Celtic Samurai: A Boy’s Transcultural Journey, is a multi-media storytelling that illuminates the life of a boy born into a world torn by interracial and international hostilities. I see it as a way of educating about multicultural family experiences in a global context through the oral tradition of storytelling. I present this to audiences in different countries, mostly Japan and the U.S., as a way of honoring the lives of those who have taken similar journeys through life. Recently, I presented it to the Hapa Japan Conference and Mixed Student Union Conference, both at the University of California, Berkeley, and in 2012 at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines, Nottingham University in England, and Osaka University and Kyoto University in Japan.
