Asian American Family Education

My research and practice in multicultural family education in Japan and the United States, focuses on Asian immigrant and multicultural families and holistic child development. Through a nonprofit organization I co-founded — PI Education and Health Research Group — and individually, I have conducted seminars and workshops for parents dealing with challenges of migration, cultural adaptation, education, adoption, divorce, dying, and death. I offer courses on families through Stanford Continuing Studies and Alliant University Continuing Studies. I have also conducted participatory action research in settings such as the University of California, Berkeley Asian American community. This research is presented in “Asian American Students: The Other Side of Achievement” and our video production, Asian American Student Voices.
